There are 2 types of pasembur here in Penang. This Chinese one is a vegetarian salad dish drenched in a sweet potato dressing. It also contains shredded turnip? Cucumber and jellyfish. The indian pasembur consists of different fried food like crab, prawns or sotong covered with a special satay like sauce.
Chinese Pasembur with Jellyfish
At the Jelutung wet market there is a hawker center which has very nice pasembur. The chinese style pasembur sauce is made from sweet potatoes. The salad is a mix of turnip, cucumber, fried crackers and tafu. The jelly fish garnishing on top is a specialty here in Jelutung.
Jelutung Pasembur Up Close
The spicky garnish on top is preserved jellyfish. An interesting touch to a salad. Much more interesting than Caesor salad!
