Fried Rice / Char Pui

Fried rice is a simple yet tasty dish which varies in each coffee shop you eat at.

Simple rice fried in a hot wok with garnishings of belacan(shrimp paste), kiam hu (dried salted fish), egg, and prawns makes a cheap satisfying lunch. The trick to good fried rice is to leave the rice overnight in the fridge so it is not soggy.

Where to eat it? I like the fried rice in the corner coffee shop in Pulau Tikus during lunch time.

There are a lot of Malay food stalls in Penang. When I go there I like to order this, Pataya Fried Rice. It is basically fried rice wrapped in an omelet served ith a side dish of fried chicken. Wash down with a glass of iced tea.

The fried rice at Goh Huat Seng Restaurant 59-A kimberley Street is simple yet divine. Their house specialty is actually steamboat but many other dishes such as deep fried fish belly, prawn roll, crab roll and Oh Chien are all excellent

I would like to recommend the fried rice at batu lanchang market. The stall is opposite the famous cendol and is operated by husband and wife. They offer a whole lot of variety of fried rice ranging from tomyam, green curry, kampung and etc. They also have delicious nasi lemak. Do try it out and maybe you can feature in your blog if its nice
